Wedding Industry statistics:

Estimated Industry size: US$ 30 billion

Growth rate: 20% per year

Budget range of planned weddings: US$ 20,000 to US$ 4 million

Premium on destination wedding: 30% to 40%

Strength & Opportunity:

1.      Growing purchasing power and willingness to spend.

2.      Rising consumer aspirations.

3.      Growing influence of Punjabi customs of mehendi  and music.

4.      The expansion of customized designer outfits, accessories and jewellary as big ramp designers open boutiques on high street.

5.      A mushrooming of beauty salons that offer professional make-up finishes at varying price point- with special deals thrown in.

6.      Comfort factor for hosts who can out-source wedding organization to professionals.

Weaknesses and Threats:

1.      Government regulation and policies in regard to FDI investment.

2.      Critical cultural knowledge is required as India has a great range of diversified culture and customs.

3.      Indigenous event management players has access to the details of wedding customs and rituals that can put them to advantageous position in getting leads of the clients.

4.       Entry of the well known brand would threaten the Indigenous wedding planning companies to lower their consultancy and service charge.

Some of the international brands are coming up with the limited edition products that connect with the ethnicity of the Indian. The classic example of it is Genesis Luxury, the Marketing and Distribution Company for many international luxury labels in India.

Tailor your weddings:

Customizing your wedding through Event Management Company, are no longer the sole privileges of super rich. More consumers are hiring event planners and designers to tailor-made the occasion to suit varied pockets.

“The wedding market was no where ten year back, and then it arrived for the richest. Today it is for everyone ready to spend little extra”- by an executive partner from an Event management company. He continued “Recently one of the client spent US $ 80,000 for her weddings that was organized and managed by us”. Well to compare typical Indian weddings in the US cost three times the average American ceremony. This is the reason why global salon brands are looking ways to enter the rich Indian market. While interviewing another US based NRI invited 300 people and spent US$ 90,000 for “a well managed and stress free wedding”. He added that thanks to the planners, he and his wife did not miss out the fun and celebrations. The estimated US $ 30 billion Indian wedding industry is growing at 20% annually and the new figure is expected to come in the near future. Such figure can be assumed to be a honey trap for top wedding brands in providing wedding services in the potentially huge wedding market like India. To read the potential of the Indian wedding market read my next blog on: SWOT analysis of India as a hot investment destination for the top wedding brands.

Fashion tricks for shorter grooms on the wedding day:

Create vertical lines: The key is to create an optical illusion of height using vertical lines. Pin stripes and thin corduroys will definitely help because they give an impression of added height. You can also try shirts with spread or pointy collars.
Go monotone: If a short build groom is clad in the same or similar colour from top to bottom, the eye automatically sees a longer vertical length. A suit is ideal clothing for the short build groom, as it gives the impression of added height. Blending shoe, socks and trouser colour is another good trick. Even while wearing Jeans try not to wear tops and bottom that differ too much in colour or shades.
Slim down silhouette: It is vital for a short groom to wear clothes that are well fitted, for example: slim pants are a must.

Lengthen the upper part of your clothing: Suits and blazers should always fall below the buttocks of the groom. This gives the impression of added inches to the height. Show more cuffs from under your suit, this lengthens their arms.

Bridal makeup tricks this summer:

Bridal makeup tricks this summer:

Avoid Concealer: Colour of the skin tone changes during summer and hence looks patchy, so the best option is to sparingly use concealer, but if you have to use it, blend it well. The other option is to use light translucent powder as it can become cakey.

Powder power: For long lasting make-up, apply pressed powder to your eye-lids to soak up any additional oil before applying the eye shadow. This will also help set the powder and prevent creasing. Also, instead of powdering the rising oil from surface of the skin, use tissue paper or bloating paper to absorb dirt, oil and sweat as it won’t make the skin cakey.

Eye wise: Use eye lash curler before applying mascara to open up the eyes. Also, use waterproof mascara to prevent from black eye syndrome. You can also combine a lighter crème eye-shadow with light lipstick or lip gloss and you can have instant bright eyes.

Lipliner comes first: Outline the lips with the lipliner in order to prevent smudging and bleeding of lip colour and only then apply lip colour. Apply lip gloss or shimmer powder on the centre of the lower lips and upper lips to add volume, fullness and dimension. Exfoliate your lips once or twice in a week or run your tooth brush to remove dead skin.

Go bright: Choose juicy pinks, orange shades and yummy reds as they are shades of summer. Bright colours look good on single toned complexion and clear skin.

Tips to care for the bridal jewellary

Seek professional help:
All the precious metals are prone to scratch. It’s good to get your jewellary polished regularly if the brides want to maintain its high shine. The option can be finding jeweller trained bench professional for all adjustments, resizing, polishing and cleaning.
Regular cleaning:
Brides can help themselves in cleaning their jewellary by using a mild solution of soap and warm water and gently rub it with a soft cloth; the other option can be finding a cleaning solution.
Avoid wear and tear:
It’s important to remove jewellary when engaged in any kind of manual activities. Avoid placing your Jewellary where other pieces of jewellary end up scratching. Store your pieces either in separate jewellary box or a soft cloth bag.
Keep away from chlorinated water:
Swimming pool water, when lightly chlorinated, shouldn’t be a problem with high quality jewellary, particularly platinum. It is highly advisable to stay away, as when concentrated and exposed to silver or gold jewellary it may begin to have corrosion effect especially when you add the temperature in chlorinated hot tubs.

Keep moisture away:
Water left on jewellary might leave stains. Drying them with a clean cloth after contact will be helpful. If stains remain, applying a small amount of alcohol should remove them. It is advisable not to handle bleach or harsh chemicals when wearing your jewellary.

Taking care of bridal diamond jewellary:
Careful cleaning:
We all are aware that diamond is one of the hardest known natural mineral but when it is set in the form of jewellary it is highly vulnerable to cracking, breakage or spoiling. Hence care should be taken while cleaning them. The best option is to use soft brush, soap and water or you can use an eye brow or even a lipstick brush.
Mild wash:
Before you start cleaning it is advisable to make a mix of warm water and a mild detergent. Then place your diamond jewellary in it. Always use mild cleanser to clean your diamond. Jewellary stores use diluted ammonia to clean with. The easiest way for you to replicate this at home is by using Windex mixed with hot water. The heat in the water will loosen up any oils on the stone.
 Scrub gently:
Soak it for a few minutes and then scrub with the brush. An old tooth brush works best. While giving a rinse to the diamond Jewellary you can use a strainer.
